The Company

About Us

Founded in 1994, Namyanka is a Baltimore based Christian Performing Arts Company.  Namyanka is an old African word which means “God’s Gift”.

Namyanka’s Mission is spread the Word of God through the arts and to see souls saved, healed, and delivered through the anointing power of movement.  Namyanka teaches dancers of God where dancing is to take place in the Body of Christ and how to conduct themselves as vessels of God.  This is accomplished through intense dance training, Bible study, mentoring, and fasting and prayer for its members.

Namyanka has provided choreography for concerts with Paul Wilbur, Ron Kenoly and Richard Smallwood, and were the lead dancers in a 12 hour prayer vigil - entitled “Peace in the City” for Baltimore. Namyanka is also committed to portraying the history African Americans.  The company produces an annual production in March entitled  “When and Where I Enter, A Tribute to African American Women.”  We provide classes in dance technique, choreography, and workshops on the appropriate use of dance in ministry.

Namyanka was the recipient of a 2009 community service award from the City of Baltimore. Namyanka is a non-profit 501c3 organization and a member of the National Liturgical Dance Network.
