Namyanka is a non-profit 501c3 which was established in 1994 for the purpose of providing dance training, cultural enhancement, mentorship, health, wellness and character building in a Christian environment.
Namyanka's mission is to set a standard of excellence by producing vessels of honor in the art of dance where worship, art and ministry are one.
Namyanka provides a unique opportunity for those called into ministry through the genre of liturgical dance and the performing arts. These classes including dance technique, dance composition and Bible study. Members are able to train both physically and spiritually for the call on their lives, and to positively impact the community.
Namyanka's primary dance form is Dunham technique which is a blend of ballet, modern, and African style dance.
Members range from age 5-adults and represent several churches and denominations.
Namyanka provides financial assistance to those pursing higher education.
We have served the Baltimore community by assisting other dance ministries, providing ministry in churches, nursing homes, hospitals, community organizations, and schools. Namyanka has also provided choreography for Integrity Music tours for Paul Wilbur and Ron Kenoly and produces several concerts throughout the year. As a primarily African American company Namyanka is committed to productions depicting African American history and culture.
Namyanka is a recipient of a community service award from the City of Baltimore Namyanka is member of the National Liturgical Dance Network, and the Apostolic Prophetic Connection.
